Cybersecurity risk in the new normal

Cybersecurity is certainly one of the most persistent risks of the 21st century, and it has been particularly exacerbated by the pandemic. Organizations had to balance competing priorities and disruptions while making sure their networks were secure. At the same time, criminals have tried to capitalize on the crisis by increasing the pace and complexity of cyber attacks.

In order to make this growing risk area easier to understand, the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors has published a cyber security report “Mind the Gap: Cyber security risk in the new normal”.

The aim of this report is to highlight the gap in the assessment of cybersecurity practices in organizations and to encourage internal audit teams to help their organizations be cyber resilient and future proof.

A total of 177 high-level internal auditors participated in the survey that formed the basis of this research.
