Where Bribery still reigns

The 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), released this week by Transparency International, shows that corruption around the world is treading water. 86 percent of countries have made little or no progress over the past decade.

The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories on perceived levels of public sector corruption on a scale of zero (very corrupt) to 100 (very clean). The top performers on the index this year are Denmark (88), Finland (88), and New Zealand (88). However, nearly two-thirds of countries scored less than 50 on the 100-point scale this year.
