The concern of executives about the state of the world’s climate has increased in recent months. But optimism that immediate action can make a difference has also increased. This is shown by Deloitte’s new CxO Sustainability Survey 2022. The survey polled a total of more than 2,000 C-level executives in 21 countries. The focus of the study is to examine the opinions and motivations of CxOs with regard to sustainability and to analyze corporate measures and their effects.
For example, 97% of respondents stated that climate change is already negatively affecting their company. That many companies are already trying to do things more sustainably becomes clear in other results. The survey shows, that 53% of companies currently have a sustainability officer, 67% plan to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 or earlier, and 55% are reducing air travel. A key barrier to sustainability efforts, according to respondents, is that it is difficult for companies to measure their impact on the environment.
